Thomas "Mick" Burns

Thomas Michael “Mick” Burns, 71, of Presque Isle MI, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 29,2026, after battling complications related to a recent stroke and fighting the good fight the passed 11.5 years from a previous stroke.

The son of Thomas Burns and Evelyn Swainson (Schumaker) was born June 13,1955 in Port Huron,MI.

After graduating from Gross Pointe North High School in 1973, he continued his further education and earned a degree in Business Management thru Oakland University.

Mick married the love of his life Sharon Lewandowski on June 7,1980 in Port Huron surrounded by family and friends.

Through most of his career, Mick worked for SEMCO Energy and Natural Gas for the better part of 30 years until retiring early due to an unexpected stroke.

He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and joking personality that everyone will remember.

His hobbies in life included spending quality time with his wife Sharon, a passion for woodworking, antique hunting , as well as being an avid car enthusiast. Through shared hobbies and passions , Mick and Sharon became business owners and opened their own craft and antique gift store in Lexington, MI named The Hunter House as a reference to how much he enjoyed the thrill of “the hunt” for the perfect antique to restore for others.

After many years of enjoying the time they spent in Lexington being business owners Mick wanted to find the perfect serine area to live in retirement surrounded by the beauty of nature and water and moved to Presque Isle in 2016.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Evelyn.

He is survived in life by his loving wife Sharon, a sister Kathy (Bob) Fiedler of Fort Gratiot, MI and 3 nephews Mark, Jason and Seth.

Visitation and memorial of Mick’s life will be held on Thursday July 2,2026 at Hentkowski Funeral Home in Rogers City, MI starting at 11:00am. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm and burial after service at Presque Isle Township Cemetery.

There will be a small luncheon following the burial for those that would like to join.
