Patrick E. VanAlstine

Patrick Earl VanAlstine, 74, of Cheboygan passed away May 6, 2022 at McLaren Hospice House of Cheboygan, after a brief battle with cancer.
The son of Earl and Catherine (Shall) VanAlstine was born on September 4, 1947 in Pontiac. He married Mary Ellen (Boughan) on November 4, 1966, and graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1967. In August of 1967 he entered the United States Navy during 1970 -1971 Patrick served as part of the Special Forces in the Brown Water Navy in Vietnam.
Patrick worked for the County Road Commission for 29 years retiring in May of 2021. He enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours gardening, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Frances and Chester Boughan; 3 brothers Sydney, Francis, and James; 2 sisters Gloria and Vicky.
Surviving are his wife Mary, 2 children Renee (Dan) Layne, and Jerome; 2 brothers Robert, and Timothy; 2 sisters Elaine VanAlstine, and Kathy (Gale) Ross all of Cheboygan.
Cremation arrangements are in care of Hentkowski Funeral Home in Rogers City, inurnment will take place in Oakhill Cemetery.
