The son of Harry and Henerietta (Langlois) Kierzek was born on April 26, 1945, in Tacoma, Washington. After graduation, Butch began sailing for the Bradley Transportation Company. Early in his career, he was a survivor of the crew of SS Cedarville. Not detouring him, he sailed for a total of 40 years on the freighters, holding various positions. He retired to a peaceful lifestyle, enjoying his remaining years taking care of his family. His presence was noticed at many of the school and sporting events. Butch held a special place in his heart for those he knew. He was a life member of VFW Post 607

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Tess in 2015; and his sister Sue Gordon.

He will be sadly missed by his three daughters Renee (Rob) Wirgau of Traverse City, Laura (Scott) Karasinski of Grand Rapids, and Kristel (Tim) Baller of Rogers City; two sisters Louella Kierzek, and Donna Modrzynski; five grandchildren Justine, Kelley, Logan, Tristan (Morgan), and Morgan.

Arrangements are in the care of Hentkowski Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at a later date.
