Helen R Martin 89, of Munro Township passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2026, at Mackinac Straits Health Systems in St. Ignace MI.
The daughter of Edward Germaine and Verna (Germaine) Thomas was born on April 3rd, 1936, in Flint MI. After graduating from school, Helen lived in Maine and then settled down in Otisville MI. while starting her family and owning a diner and bar.Helen married John Martin on April 3, 1971, in Flint, they made their home there until 2008 while raising their three kids. Then they moved back to the Cheboygan area to enjoy Northern Michigan while retiring.
Helen loved the lord, was a proud member of the Church of the Nazarene and worked in The Lords Kitchen. She was a member of a bible study group she loved and spoke often in cancer survival groups after surviving non- Hodgkins Lymphoma. She was knowledgeable, well versed on many subjects and had a thirst for reading anything she could get her hands on. Helen had a big heart for the underdog and believed in second chances for those less fortunate.
Surviving is her sister Nora, two sons John Martin, and Mathew (Tiffani) Martin and daughters Lynn Reynolds and Jennifer Martin, all of the Cheboygan area and several grandchildren and a few great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Martin, a daughter Michelle Imig, a son Jeffery Barnes, a sister Laura and a sister Betty Sneider.
