Doris Ann Schmidt

June 23, 1932 — November 5, 2017

Doris Schmidt lived her life to the fullest, enjoying family and friends every day of her life. She left us on Sunday, November 5th surrounded by her family and friends. Doris was born in Cheboygan on June 23, 1932 the oldest daughter of Bernard & Mary Deroshia. She married her high school sweetheart Gar Schmidt and loved him for 48 years. She was preceded in death by Gar, her parents, brothers - Louie, Richard & Steve, and her beloved cat, Pearl.
Doris will be greatly missed by her daughters – Janine Schmidt, Melanie (Dennis) Eno, Margo Feenan, Alison (Phil) Milligan, her grandchildren – Stephanie Schmidt & Amber Berden, Adam & Kyle Eno, Jeremy Feenan, Michelle & Greg Milligan, great-grandchild Nevaeh Willis. Her sister Faye Robidou & cousin Beverly Russell will also miss her as well as many other relatives including lots of nieces, nephews & cousins.
She loved to share a cup of coffee with friends, offer advice or just listen to their stories. Doris loved to sew and was a seamstress for many people. She worked for 19-1/2 years at West Side School with people who loved her - students & fellow co-workers alike. Doris loved to go camping and stopped at rummage sales frequently.
Doris enjoyed a good party and sometimes was the life of the party, making friends wherever she traveled, from Michigan to Florida. She was a great woman and will be missed by many!
Doris requested to be cremated with no memorial service to be held. A celebration of her life (a party) will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions can be made in Doris’s name to the Andrea Gimble Field Trip fund or to Hospice of the Straits. Hentkowski Funeral Home of Rogers City is taking care of the arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to Cheboygan Area Schools/Andrea Gimble Field Trip Fund/Susan Gimble-Crandall, 501 Court Street, or Hospice of the Straits.
