Calvin Carl Jaeger, age 81, of Alpena and formally of Rogers City, passed away Monday morning June 15, 2015 at Sally's Care Home in Alpena.
The son of Paul T. and Caroline (Krueger) was born on July 10, 1933 in Rogers City. Calvin sailed on the Bradley Transportation Lines for a year, then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1953 to 1955. When he returned home he sailed for another 9 years. He was united in marriage to Beverly Szczukowski in 1955 and together they raised their daughter in Rogers City.
Retiring from the Presque Isle Corporation as a light equipment operator in 1995. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a Life Member of the VFW Post 607. Calvin enjoyed playing cards, gardening and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife Beverly; a daughter Debra (Kevin) Wirgau of Plainwell; a grandson Aaron (Danielle) Wirgau; 2 granddaughters, Leah and Sarah Wirgau; a great grandson Bane and a great granddaughter Ayla.
Preceded in death are 3 brothers Gordon, Howard, and Harry; 2 sisters Marge Curtis and Delores Haley.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until the 7:00 PM Funeral Service with Pastor Voigt Officiating at the Hentkowski Funeral Home, on Wednesday June 17, 2015. A graveside service will be Thursday 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by Rogers City VFW Post 607. Online condolences may be sent to www.
